Did you know that many scientists believe it was the art of social gossip that first set us apart from the other animals? That’s how we formed intimate groups and learned more about the important things in life. We’d like to continue that tradition in our area of expertise, so here’s just a taste of what’s happened this week in the world of marketing:

Clever campaigns: Straight to the heart

This campaign starts out innocent enough, with cute kids reading quotes from adults in a playful atmosphere. Then, silence – and cue the sad music. These cute kids all have fetal alcohol disorder, which can cause all kinds of health problems, from the heart to brain, as a result of their mothers had consumed some amount of alcohol during pregnancy. The quotes they read sound funny at first, but they are actually from recent articles and tweets that have helped spread the myth that there’s no harm in drinking moderate amounts during pregnancy.

As these kids go on to state, they are proof that no amount of alcohol is ok during pregnancy. This campaign is effective thanks to its use of raw, yet honest emotion, carefully playing on feelings of shock and guilt without crossing the boundary into emotional manipulation.

Tools of the trade: Photoshop

Thought photoshop was only for world-class photographers among us? Think again. Photoshop is the best photo editing software to get spectacular photos and graphics, which are increasingly a necessity for a business that wants to promote an atmosphere of professionalism. Photoshop can help marketers cut costs, improve social media content and make products more appealing.

Yes, there is a steep learning curve, but the benefits you get are worth the investment.

Bountiful blogs

Blogging is an art, and there is no one set of strict rules to follow. Each project will find success with slightly different methods and practices, but we can also learn a lot about how to maintain a successful blog by looking at the stats, and one of the most frequently asked questions is: How often should you blog? This article will give you some important data to work with.
