#GOSSIPING 17.02.2019

Did you know that many scientists believe it was the art of social gossip that first set us apart from the other animals? That’s how we formed intimate groups and learned more about the important things in life. We’d like to continue that tradition in our area of expertise, so here’s just a taste of what’s happened this week in the world of marketing:

Clever campaigns: A true pizza party

National Pizza Day is behind us, but the clever campaigns initiated by major pizza sellers are still remain as leftovers. Domino’s broke the mold with a campaign that’s last lasting through April, intended to get more people ordering pizza digitally through its app.

What’s so clever about it? Domino’s is offering free pizzas to app users who gather enough loyalty points by scanning pizzas into their system. The mobile app knows how to recognize a pizza, but not where it came from. You could make your own or even order from Domino’s competitors to get points! Sound counterproductive? Domino’s does the majority of its business digitally, and this campaign keeps them ahead of their competitors in this area, making them the focus of attention, even when you order from somewhere else.

Tools of the trade: Rebrandly

Shortening your links is generally good practice to avoid URLs that look suspiciously like spam or just don’t tell visitors anything about where they might land once they click. Most link shorteners do just that: they make your links shorter. But that’s all they do. Shorter is definitely better than longer, but using Rebrandly takes it to the next level.

That’s because Rebrandly gives you control over your shortened links to make sure they include your brand name, a TLD that tells viewers what industry or activity the link is related to, and a slug that says in plain English what’s in the link. This allows your links to spread brand awareness and be more useful to viewers.
